Operation Carcinisation

Operation Carcinisation was a project for my Hard Surface design class at RIT. The goal was to take an animal, make it into a mecha, and design it to fulfill a specific function.

I chose to make a crab mech based on the Japanese king crab, with the function of taking invasive species out of bodies of water.
The mech uses multiple lenses to track fish below, and when it sees an invasive species–like a lionfish, it will use the mounted harpoons to snare the fish. Then, it uses mechanical claws to clean and reset the harpoon, storing the fish in the shipping container for relocating.
